War in Lebanon: Beninese called to leave the country

While Israel continues its insults in Lebanon, Benin is worried about the Beninese who live on Lebanese territory. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, asks his fellow citizens to “seize the opportunity of the last commercial flights (…) to leave without delay”.

Faced with the uncertainty surrounding the end of Israeli aggression on Lebanese territory, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari responded on Tuesday October 8, 2024 by giving an invitation, through a press release, to the Beninese living in Lebanon. “back to Benin” and this, “soon”.

The press release from the Minister of Foreign Affairs he does not mention the chartering of special flights, by the Talon government, to ensure the return of Beninese nationals to Cotonou. Olushegun Adjadi Bakari recommends that “Benefits currently living in Lebanon [de] take advantage of the last commercial flights still available” in order to return to Benin.

However, the Minister announced that administrative formalities will be eased for certain categories of Beneese emigrants:

“For those who do not have their travel documents, the ministry encourages them to request a passport and parental authorizations for children under 18 years of age, which will allow them to make their journey in the best conditions.”
