Washington welcomes the appointment of the Central Bank’s Board of Directors

The US Embassy in Libya welcomed the appointment of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya, noting that it is “a decisive step towards strengthening the governance of the Central Bank of Libya and its credibility with the international financial community.”

The embassy said in a statement: “The United States joins the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in welcoming the appointment of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya. This is a critical step towards strengthening the governance of the Central Bank of Libya and its credibility with the international financial community.”

The statement added: “The Central Bank’s independence and technical integrity are vital to Libya’s stability and prosperity. “Libya’s core artistic institutions must not be politicized or subjected to any pressure.”
