Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance after defeating host Brighton 4-0 in the English Premier League.
With a score of 76, City is now one point behind leaders Arsenal, knowing that it has a postponed match, with 4 rounds remaining in the competition.
Guardiola said, in statements to Sky Sports: “We were in the same position, but that does not mean that we will win the title. We have to do things to achieve that.”
He added: “We know that Brighton never gives up, and in the first half we found the right rhythm and scored at the right moments. At the right moments we punished them. Brighton away from our stadium is always very difficult.”
Regarding reducing the goal difference over Arsenal, Pep commented: “It is difficult to reduce the difference. They score a lot of goals and do not concede them. The main thing is to win the match and we have 5 matches remaining, and every time it is a difficult match, and now we recover and then we face Nottingham Forest.”
Asked whether his star, Phil Foden, was a candidate to win the Premier League Player of the Season award, Guardiola replied: “Certainly, but he wants to win the championship, and I think his influence in the final third was better than in the last two or three games, and today he was calmer. The decision-making was good.”
Guardiola was asked if the competition for the title was still a trilogy, and he replied: “Yes. Many things can happen, and what happened with Liverpool against Crystal Palace and Everton can happen to us and it can happen to Arsenal. No one is safe and we have to rest.
