A statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs – obtained by the (INA) – said that British Foreign Minister David Lammy had a telephone call with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein.”
The statement added, “The two ministers discussed a number of issues, including economic aspects and the draft partnership agreement between the two countries, as well as the issue of dealing with some Iraqis living illegally in Britain.”
The British Minister emphasized – according to the statement – “the depth and strength of the relationship between Britain and Iraq,” expressing that he was “confident that this relationship will continue to develop and expand.”
The statement explained, “The British minister came to the situation in the Middle East,” emphasizing that “the British government is making great efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.”
The British minister stressed that his government wants to avoid the expansion of the war and protect Iraq from consequences, noting that it is in constant communication with all parties to reduce tension.
For his part, Foreign Affairs Minister Fouad Hussein emphasized “the importance of working to prevent the spread of war in the region,” noting, “A social, economic and security catastrophe could be result in the continued escalation of the war, which calls for action. by all countries of influence to stop the conflict in Lebanon and Gaza.”
