After the loss yesterday (Tuesday) 2:0 to Benfica, the Maccabi Haifa fans hoped that the disappointment would end with them leaving the opening game in the Champions League empty-handed, but it became clear to them that the way back to the hotels via the metro was not easy at all.
one of the fans Tal Gat, described what he and his friends experienced: “When the game ended we waited in the stands – it was known and understood. When they let us out of the stands, they forced all the fans to stay in one big group, they surrounded us with armed policemen who didn’t let anyone go out to the side.”
“So the march is slow all the way to the metro. There we were crammed in densely and suffocating threats without any ventilation let alone air conditioning. We waited in the metro cars for half an hour or so, when the metro finally started, we couldn’t get off at our station. The train only stopped at one stop before the last one.”
