It is a staircase of a confusing banality. Dug into the courtyard of the Ministry of Overseas Territories, its gray steps nevertheless lead to what was once a highly strategic place: the former ministry bunker, known as “the submarine”, built in 1937 and visible to the public once only once a year, during Heritage Days (in 2018, an escape game was even organized there). A page of buried history, which the agents of the ministry wish to rehabilitate. This is little known, but we find these underground remains in most current places of power and many ministries.
