Wentian module docked with Chinese space station

The Wentian Laboratory Module has successfully docked with the Tianhe Base Module of the Chinese Orbital Station, CGTV reports. It was launched at 14:22 local time (9:22 Moscow time), docking took place at 3:45 (22:45 Moscow time).

The launch took place from the Wenchang Cosmodrome in Hainan Province using the Long March-5B (CZ-5B) launch vehicle. The module will be used as a laboratory for biological research. It also includes three sleeping areas, a bathroom and a kitchen. This will allow up to six people to be accommodated at the Tiangong station during a crew change.

The Chinese space station Tiangong is located at an altitude of about 400 km above the Earth. It consists of the Tianhe base module, the Tianzhou-4 cargo ship, and the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft. Construction has been underway since April 2021, China plans to complete it in 2022 after the launch of the second Mengtian laboratory module.
