The FA is taking a firm stance against misconduct in grassroots football, implementing a range of penalties to address issues such as abuse of match officials, racist abuse, and assaults on opponents. These actions range from fines and mandatory education courses to lengthy bans, with the FA reporting significant penalties already handed out this season: 535 years of bans for offenses against match officials, 32 years for racist abuse, and 58 years for assaults on opponents.More than 1,000 hours of education courses have also been mandated.

This initiative falls under the broader Love Football, Protect the Game program, which aims to foster a safer and more inclusive habitat at all levels of the sport. despite the focus on misconduct,the FA emphasizes the overwhelmingly positive state of grassroots football,noting that 99.8% of fixtures take place without incident.

“One of our main objectives at The FA is to deliver a game that is safe and enjoyable for all, and fully free from discrimination,” stated Joanna Manning-Cooper, Director of marketing, Communications and Public affairs at The FA.”One incident is one too many.By demonstrating up and down the country how serious misconduct is dealt with by The FA, we can continue to protect the integrity of grassroots football and the safety and enjoyment of players, officials and volunteers in the game.” The DOOH campaign will be displayed across more than 16,000 digital sites, targeting areas with the highest reported levels of misconduct.
