Messenger service WhatsApp introduces the new “Communities” function for group chats – and gives two examples. There are also new features for polls and video switching.

EA new WhatsApp feature is designed to make it easier to manage and use group chats. The function, called communities, allows several group chats to be bundled under one main topic.

As an example, the Meta subsidiary cites a community for the local school with group chats for individual classes or a community for a neighborhood – divided into areas of interest. Members of a community can contact each other even if they are not in a chat together.

The administrators have extensive options to ensure that this also runs smoothly. WhatsApp has also set up a learning area on the web to get to know all the possibilities of the new function. Communities will be rolled out as part of upcoming WhatsApp updates.
