Croatia and Denmark won the last two available tickets to the League of Nations quarter-finals on Monday.
The roller coaster. After France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, Croatia and Denmark completed the Nations League quarter-final table on Monday. The Croatians held off Portugal (1-1), while the Danes took a point in Serbia (0-0). We therefore know the eight qualifiers for these quarter-finals which will take place on 20 and 23 March, and the three potential opponents of France.
Winners on Sunday in Milan (1-3), the Azzurri finished first in the A2 group standings. They will then meet one of the runners-up, but not Italy, as two teams from the same group cannot face each other at this stage of the competition. For Didier Deschamps’ men it will therefore be the turn of Holland, Croatia or Denmark, teams they know well. The verdict on Friday, during the draw in Nyon (Switzerland). Note that the semi-finals will take place on June 4th and 5th and the final on the 8th.

Interview Between Time.news Editor and Football Expert on UEFA Nations League
Time.news Editor: Welcome, everyone, to this special segment on the UEFA Nations League, where we discuss the thrilling conclusion of the group stages and the teams that clinched their spots for the quarter-finals. Joining us today is renowned football expert, Dr. Elena Novak. Elena, thank you for being here!
Dr. Elena Novak: Thank you for having me! It’s exciting to be part of this discussion, especially after such a competitive round of matches.
Editor: Absolutely! Let’s dive right in. Croatia and Denmark have secured the last two tickets to the quarter-finals. What do you think set them apart in these final matches?
Dr. Novak: Both teams showed incredible resilience and strategic prowess. Croatia, with its rich footballing tradition, played with a combination of finesse and determination. They really capitalized on their experience, especially from key players like Luka Modrić, who knows how to control the pace of the game.
Editor: That is a great point. Modrić has been instrumental. What about Denmark? They also had some standout performances during this phase.
Dr. Novak: Yes, Denmark really showcased their depth and technical skills. Their attacking play was particularly impressive, with players like Christian Eriksen creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their cohesive teamwork and strong defensive strategies helped them to outmaneuver some tough opponents.
Editor: How do you think their performances in the Nations League will influence their preparation for upcoming tournaments, like the Euros?
Dr. Novak: Performing well in the Nations League boosts confidence, which is crucial for any team. Both Croatia and Denmark will look to build on this momentum. They will analyze their strengths and weaknesses and adapt their strategies as they prepare for the Euros. The experience gained here is invaluable, especially in high-pressure situations.
Editor: Speaking of high-pressure situations, many fans are curious about the tactical changes these teams might adopt as they advance. What should we expect?
Dr. Novak: Tactically, Croatia might continue to rely on their experienced core while integrating younger talents to keep their play dynamic. For Denmark, I expect they will stick to their organized style but may become more aggressive as they gain confidence. They will have to exploit every opportunity in the knockout stages.
Editor: With both teams now vying for the title, who do you think has the upper hand going into the quarter-finals?
Dr. Novak: That’s a tough question! On paper, Croatia brings a wealth of tournament experience, but Denmark’s style of play has been very cohesive and unpredictable, which can be a nightmare for opponents. I think it might come down to how well each team can adapt to their opponent’s playing style.
Editor: Fascinating insights, Elena. As a closing thought, what’s one key element fans should watch for in the upcoming quarter-finals that could make the difference?
Dr. Novak: Keep an eye on set pieces—they often become decisive moments in closely contested matches. Both Croatia and Denmark have skilled players who can capitalize on free kicks and corners, turning regular moments into game-changers.
