On October 17, 2024, Günther Jauch celebrated a significant anniversary. He is hosting the popular quiz “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” for 25 years, as “RTL.de” reports. In the anniversary show, the presenter was honored for a very special achievement.

The official Guinness World Records judge Anouk de Timary was a personal guest on the show. She presented the Günther Jauch with a record certificate, which surprised her.

“With 25 years and 54 seasons, you have broken the record for most seasons of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire worldwide,” announced de Timary.

The audience cheered, and Jauch himself was visibly touched by this unique award. “Thank you, it’s really an honor,” he said, according to “RTL.de”. Jauch has asked over 42,000 questions in his career as a quizmaster. He took a sip of water 35,546 times in total – a true marathon feat.

Günther Jauch: Surprise and emotions

The anniversary show was full of surprises for the presenter. According to “Focus.de”, Jauch entered the stage without knowing what awaited him. He was greeted by a live band, standing ovations and a small pyro show. “God, I’m not going to get my own orchestra to my funeral,” Jauch said.

Tim Mälzer, Elyas M’Barek and Motsi Mabuse were there as distinguished guests. They formed a quiz team and raised 125,000 euros for a good cause. In an unexpected role reversal, Jauch himself became a candidate. Sports presenter Marcel Reif asked him questions on the subject: What does Germany think of Jauch?

At the end of the show, Günther Jauch was visibly happy. “You made me very happy,” he said, according to “Focus.de”.
