Finding a first job has become a challenge. More and more graduates youths from universities and cannot pursue their careers. The IMexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) published the list of the careers with the highest unemployment rate; literature tops this list.
According to the study “Young Talent and Companies: Opportunities and Challenges”from Junior Achievement Américas and ManpowerGroup, 8 out of 10 young Mexicans declared they have problems finding work.

The first approach of the new generations of youths with the job search are the social networks. However, it is not the way companies start their recruiting process.
Many times the recruitment strategies of companies are not updated enough to reach these new talents entering the world of work and the initial search is with traditional methods.
The results of the study by Junior Achievement Américas and ManpowerGroup show that 83% of young Mexicans seek employment through social networks, but only 18% of companies use these means to search for employees.
Alberto Alesi, general director of ManpowerGroup for Mexico, the Caribbean and Central Americaemphasized that recruitment strategies for young talent must focus on promoting their development and professional growth.
The lack of updating in the recruitment method is a problem that young people face when looking for work, but it is not the main reason why 8 out of 10 young people are unemployed.

This is the reason why 8 out of 10 Mexicans have problems finding work
The study revealed that the main reason for unemployment in the young population in Mexico is the lack of experience. Secondly there is the incompatibility with work schedules and finally, the age requirement.
Furthermore, the study collected the three main factors that young people consider when choosing a jobbut which are often not covered, so the young person prefers to start their own business. These factors are:
- Competitive salary
- Hours and working days
- Professional growth
The main factors that young people consider when leaving a job are: unsatisfactory salary, negative work environment and work-life balance.
