Advisor to the Interim Government Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan has commented that no one in charge of the incident can escape the responsibility of one worker who was electrocuted while working on a power line in Maniknagar in the capital.
Fawzul Kabir, who is in charge of the adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, said that action will be taken against everyone who is responsible for knowing why the line was opened while the power line was being worked on.
On Friday (October 24, 2024), the electricity advisor visited the injured electricity worker in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He said these things there.
On Monday evening in the Maniknagar area of Dhaka, while working on the change of high voltage (HT cable) power line, the power line worker (foreman) Md. Nabir Hussain died.
Masum Mia and Rabiul Islam were injured. They are undergoing treatment in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Fawzul Kabir said, DPDC-Dhaka Power Distribution Company and contractor cannot avoid its responsibility; One died and two were seriously injured due to this negligence.
‘It is not an accident, it is sheer negligence and irresponsibility; “Strict action will be taken against everyone involved,” he said.
The adviser said, ‘We do not have power, we have accepted responsibility. It should not be thought of as the previous government.’
He also directed the allotment of cabins for the injured, urging the hospital authorities to take all-out efforts for proper treatment of the injured. On behalf of PDC, he instructed to keep full-time staff in the hospital.
Fawzul Kabir spoke to the relatives of the dead and injured in the hospital and conveyed his sincere condolences to them and assured them of all-out cooperation.
He said that there is no compensation for the death of people but the current interim government will give all possible support to the families of the dead and injured and their dependents.
The advisor immediately directed to pay Tk 5 lakh to the family of the deceased, Tk 2 lakh to the seriously injured and Tk 1 lakh to the injured. He said that the government will bear all the medical expenses of the injured.
Before visiting the hospital, Fawzul Kabir visited the spot in Maniknagar and urged to find out the cause of the accident as soon as possible.
Electricity Line Worker (Foreman) Md. Nabir Hussain was working in M/s Moon Power Engineering Company, an annual contractor of Maniknagar Division of DPDC.
