Thiruvananthapuram: The Red Alert issued by the Meteorological Department has been withdrawn due to the possibility of heavy rain in the state. The red alert issued in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts has been withdrawn. More rain is likely over central and northern Kerala. Yellow alert has been issued in 6 districts. An orange alert has been announced in Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow. Yellow alert has also been announced in Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic vortex is likely to form over the central-east Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours as a cyclonic vortex persists over south Karnataka and adjoining areas. A depression is likely to form over central-west Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours under the influence of cyclonic circulation. As a result of this, the IMD has warned that there is a possibility of widespread rainfall in Kerala for the next five days. Isolated heavy rain is also likely on Thiruvona day, the Meteorological Department said.
