Microsoft is developing a voice-over technology called Speak for me, which can speak selected text in a natural voice, including the user’s voice.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, this was reported by the Windows Latest portal.

The innovation is not yet available to users, but the function can be enabled by making system changes to the OS. Speak for me can be useful for people with disabilities or those who don’t want to read large documents out loud on their own.

In addition to the ability to choose your own voice for voicing text, Speak for me has already prepared voices. Judging by the Windows Latest example, the function does not support the Russian language, at least at this stage. Users have access to English (USA, India, UK), Chinese (simplified), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish (Spanish and Mexican).

According to the author of Windows Latest, the narrator’s voice does not sound like a robot and “has a surprisingly natural sound quality.”

A full release of Speak for me is expected with the Windows 11 24H2 update, which is scheduled for fall 2024.
