Woman attacks baby in mother’s arms in shopping center

A 21-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault after a shocking attack on a baby in a shopping center in Perth, Western Australia.

The incident occurred last Tuesday around 1:25 pm, when The woman approached a mother who was carrying her baby in her arms and, for no apparent reason, attacked the child before fleeing the scene.

Western Australian Police (WAP) reported that neither the mother nor the baby knew the aggressor. Although the baby suffered facial injuries, these were not considered serious.

Hours later, the woman, identified as Pamila-Raye Jetta, was arrested at the Mirrabooka shopping center. She has been charged with one count of aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear at Perth Magistrates Court this Thursday.

Western Australian Premier Roger Cook expressed shock at the attack: “It is a shocking and traumatic situation for the mother. and potentially very dangerous for the baby. “I’m glad the police acted quickly.”
