Won Hee-ryong, People Power Party candidate for Gyeyang-eul constituency in Incheon in the April 10 general election, said on the 23rd, “Isn’t democracy to evaluate and reward Gyeyang residents if they work hard for their simple dreams, and change them if they don’t?”

Candidate Won held a press conference at Imhak Intersection in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon this afternoon to declare his candidacy for the general election.
He said, “I think Gyeyang-eul is a place where the sovereign is not receiving its due, and I think it is a place where democracy is being abandoned.”

In particular, he said, “I have been hearing so hard that the development of Gyeyang has been halted for the past 25 years,” and added, “The party and local council members who have protected this place must take responsibility.” This is a remark aimed at Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, whose constituency is Gyeyang-eul. Candidate Won will compete against Democratic Party leader Lee in this general election.

In this regard, Candidate Won said, “We are now choosing ‘honest politics’ and ‘politics of lies’ rather than the party (in the general election). “It is a choice between ‘politics that always lives with the residents’ and ‘politics that takes advantage of the residents only during elections,’” he emphasized.

At the press conference that day, Candidate Won presented his main pledges as follows: expanding the transportation network in the Gyeyang area of Incheon by extending Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 9, promoting apartment redevelopment, and promoting the designation of special education zones to reduce private education expenses.

Candidate Won’s plan is to extend Seoul Subway Line 9 to Incheon Line 1 via Bakchon Station, and to connect Seoul Line 2 (Daejang/Hongdae Line) to Incheon Line 2 at Gajeong Station via Seoun Station, Jakjeon Station, and Hyoseong Station. .

Candidate Won said, “I will not engage in politics that takes advantage of the people by only showing up during elections and taking votes as if they were coming to pick up something that was entrusted to them. “If I am honest, I will be recognized and I will engage in politics that is always with the residents,” he said. “I will use my experience as a three-term member of the National Assembly in Mok-dong, Seoul, where there is a strong passion for education, and my experience as the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promote regional development in Gyeyang.”

Attending Candidate Won’s press conference on this day were People Power Party Gyeyang-eul Yoon Hyeong-seon, chairman of the People Power Party, and Lee Cheon-soo, sponsor chairman.

Gyeyang-eul, where Candidate Won voted, is classified as a ‘home garden’ of traditional progressive parties in Incheon. Progressive party candidates won six of the seven National Assembly elections (including two re-elections and by-elections) held between 2004 and 2022, and the conservative party candidate won only once, in the 2010 re-elections and by-elections.
