Franceville March 15, 2024, (AGP) – In order to prevent acute or chronic kidney diseases, the Franceville Hemodialysis Center, in the province of Haut-Ogooué, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, organized Thursday March 14 , at the large Potos market, and in schools, screening sessions, during which 439 people were screened, it was noted.

Organized by the Franceville Hemodialysis Center in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the consultations and screenings were carried out by all the doctors gathered within the Gabonese Society of Nephrology (Soganeph). Also, informed populations stormed the various sites selected for this purpose.

It should be remembered that these days initiated by the President of the Transition Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema aim to reverse the increase in cases by promoting prevention.

According to Dr Alda Ngoumbadjambo, in 2021, the date of the creation of the Franceville Hemodialysis Center, this medical structure had nearly 600 patients. Three years later, that is to say in 2024, the figure has doubled, or 1,444 cases detected to date.

The observed water minute

This initiative by the Head of State allows rapid treatment to avoid cases of dialysis, which are used as a last resort; and, the cost of which is high.

At the end of the morning, at the Potos market, the Deputy Secretary General of the Minister of Health, Élise Eyang Aubame, launched the “water minute” which consisted of drinking a bottle of water. Because, for good kidney health, consuming at least 1.5 to 2 liters of water, or 6 glasses, would help prevent this silent disease.
