WTO: A delegation from the House of Representatives participates in a parliamentary conference in Abu Dhabi

The parliamentary delegation includes deputies Alaeddine El Bahraoui, from the National Rally of Independents group, Abdelfettah El Aouni, from the Authenticity and Modernity group, Mimoun Amiri, from the Istiqlalien group for unity and egalitarianism, and Abdennour El Hasnaoui, from the socialist group -Ittihadi opposition.

The work of the Parliamentary Conference was structured around areas of formation and strengthening of a multilateral trading system serving all, the relationship between trade and climate change as well as electronic commerce in the era of flexible economies.

This Conference provided an opportunity for parliamentarians specializing in international trade, finance and economic development to follow the developments recorded in the decisions of the ministerial conferences, to interact with government negotiators and WTO officials, to exchange opinions and experiences with legislators from other Parliaments and to establish avenues for parliamentary work at national and international levels.

Sessions of the Parliamentary Conference are held annually within the framework of WTO ministerial conferences.

The Parliamentary Conference on the WTO was created in 2002 at the initiative of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament. It constitutes a parliamentary control mechanism of the WTO and aims to add a parliamentary dimension to this intergovernmental institution in order to strengthen transparency and accountability in the world trade system.
