Xavi never ceases to amaze. The Spanish coach chose tonight (Tuesday) an innovative 3: 4: 3 formation for the fateful game against Benfica Lisbon at 22:00 at the Camp Nou. Those included in the squad but will open on the bench are Serginio Dest and Osman Dembele, who have recovered from injuries.
Barcelona composition: Mark-Andre Ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, Clement Langela, Sergio Busquets, Nico Gonzalez, Gabby, Frankie de Jong, Joseph Demir, Jordi Alba and Memphis DePay.
And back to Dembele whose future is still unclear. The Frenchman has signed for Barcelona until the summer of 2022 and in a little over a month he will already be able to negotiate with other clubs. Attempts have already been made in Catalonia to extend his contract, but no progress has been made on the issue.
The Mundo Deportivo newspaper reports that there are growing doubts at Barça about Dembele’s stay. The club believe he really wants to continue wearing Blagrana, but in practice his agent, Musa Sissoko, is delaying the contract renewal for a variety of reasons and it is estimated that he is trying to persuade the extremist to move to another team. One of the candidates to sign him is Manchester United.
