Yeongcheon City’s total export promotion budget in 2024 is approximately 1 billion won for 11 projects, and it plans to provide substantial administrative support through customized support in areas necessary to revitalize exports.
Starting with holding an agricultural and food export meeting to find ways to revitalize exports with local export company officials in February, 3 places to support the improvement of export competitiveness of fresh agricultural products to foster export complexes and 1 place to improve the export competitiveness of agricultural and food processing companies were designated as business targets. was selected. In addition, 2 places provide international food certification support to lay the foundation for overseas expansion of agricultural products, 6 places provide overseas promotional support to help local exporters advance into the United States, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Indonesia, 2 places create fresh agricultural product export complexes, and export for post-harvest quality control. Applications for support projects for establishing a distribution infrastructure for farmers were accepted and selected.
In addition, starting this year, a new support project to improve the safety of exported agricultural products will be promoted as an alternative project to the abolition of support for agricultural and food export logistics costs in accordance with international trade agreements. We plan to provide support to compensate for the loss of income of export farmers due to compliance with hygiene, quarantine, and safety regulations, and provide additional support to improve the safety of Shine Muscat and garlic, which are key export strategic items in Yeongcheon City.
Meanwhile, Yeongcheon City’s agricultural and food export performance last year was $19.87 million, and it aims to exceed $21 million this year. In order to secure a new overseas distribution network, starting with the first export of garlic to the United States last year, we are making efforts to expand overseas markets, including by inviting the presidents of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in America on March 12 and signing a business agreement to revitalize exports to the United States.
