Time.news – A woman of The 28-year-old killed three children and three staff members at a private elementary school in Nashville, Tennesseebefore being killed by police, in the latest outbreak of gun violence to rock the United States.
Armed with at least two assault rifles and a handgun, the assassin entered the Christian Covenant School through a side door before opening fire, Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron told a news conference. The agents arrived at the scene about 15 minutes after the first emergency call, around 5 pm Italian time, and confronted the assassin who returned fire before being killed.
The young woman, identified by police as a 28-year-old from Nashville, fired several shots as she walked through the school, Aaron said. There are no indications as to the motive for the shooting. “We now know that there are three fatally injured children and three adults killed within the school,” Aaron said, noting that the adults were among the school’s 40 to 50 employees. “We are working to identify the victims, including the killer.” There are no other injuries.
“All remaining pupils were escorted out of the building along with faculty and staff,” said Kendra Loney of the Nashville Fire Department. “We were there to help them keep anyone from seeing exactly what else was going on.” “But we’re sure they felt the chaos surrounding the affair, so we have mental health specialists and professionals who are on site for both students and families to be reunited.”
Covenant School is a private Presbyterian school with just over 200 students ranging in age from pre-school to approximately 12 years old.
