The Central Institute of Classical Tamil Studies has started the work of translating Tolkappiyam, the most ancient book in Tamil, into various languages ​​with the aim of reaching the people of the world. In the first phase, Tolkappiyam will be translated into 10 Indian languages, including Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Urdu, Maithili, Tulu, Sanskrit, Bengali, Punjabi and Malayalam, and 15 foreign languages, including Russian, Chinese, Malay, Japanese, German and Arabic.

Interested translators can apply through the website www.cict.in. Deserving Chandrasekaran, director of the Tamil Studies Institute, said that Rs 5 lakh would be given for a language selected.
