A 15-year-old was arrested by police on suspicion of planning a Christmas attack. He is said to have had a Berlin church as his target.
The police in Brandenburg have taken a teenager from the Teltow-Fläming district into custody because of possible attack plans. This was announced by a police spokesman. It was said that the investigators became aware of suspected politically motivated attack planning during the Christmas season, and the information increased on Christmas Eve. The officials initially did not provide any further information about the attack plans.
On Christmas Day, a special operations team searched the suspect’s apartment. The teenager was then taken into custody. The Potsdam district court later confirmed the detention.
According to a report by RBB, the person arrested is said to be a 15-year-old. Accordingly, the target of his supposedly planned attack was a church in Berlin. According to information from an ARD terrorism expert, the young person is said to have had contact via Telegram with people who could belong to the so-called “Islamic State,” the report continues. When asked by t-online, a police spokeswoman did not want to provide any more detailed information about this information. The background is still being investigated, it said.
The “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung” reports that the boy was arrested in Zossen, Brandenburg.
