May 12 is the International Day of Nurses. Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the day.

“I express my gratitude that despite a number of challenges and the pandemic that terrorized the world, thanks to your high professional qualities, patience and care, you were able to fulfill your mission.

You play a key role in patient welfare, safety and rehabilitation. Your role was indispensable, especially during the 44-day war. you worked on the front line in extremely stressful, stressful and stressful situations with the risk of losing your life in front of you.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes the need for nursing reform. We have developed a nursing development strategy, as a result of which we will be able to provide medical institutions with qualified specialists through the preparation of nursing potential, effective planning and management. We also value the participation of nursing potential in the processes of providing comprehensive health coverage. We are going for reforms, clearly pointing out the issues of revision of the minimum salaries set by the contracts of certain categories of nurses, definition of the principles of measurability of “overburdened” work and incentive mechanisms, improvement of the educational system, introduction of the model of nurses with higher education.

I would like to mention that on April 15, 2022, the “Bachelor of Nursing” qualification was added to the “Health” section of the list of professions and qualifications of higher professional education on April 15, 2022.
And the introduction of a bachelor’s education program is the first step in creating higher education opportunities for nurses, the goal of which is to increase the role of nurses, improve their abilities, involve them in nursing education, scientific research works and prepare educated nursing staff potential in accordance with international standards.

Dear nurses, according to this year’s WHO motto of your professional day (“Invest in sisterly work in the development of the profession and respect the rights of nurses”), we will do everything in the direction of your professional development, reaffirmation of professional rights,” the message says.
