During an overtaking maneuver, “SOKO Stuttgart” actor Michael Gaedt crashed into a truck. The medical team gives the all-clear.

“It’s a miracle that I’m still alive!” says ZDF star Michael Gaedt to the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”. The 67-year-old was involved in a serious accident on Wednesday afternoon.

The artist drove from Stuttgart to Berlin on Autobahn 81 near Ludwigsburg. He wanted to overtake a truck and drove his little red truck into the middle lane. The overtaking process was probably aborted because of an approaching car. Gaedt drove back into the middle lane. At the same moment, the tractor-trailer that was being overtaken braked and collided with Gaedt’s truck. A 23-year-old driver was behind the wheel of the tractor-trailer and survived the accident without injuries.

The actor, however, was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance and initially treated in the emergency room. The medical team gave the all-clear regarding life-threatening injuries. However, the crime actor’s lungs and legs were badly bruised.

“I’m just glad I’m alive and no one was hurt except me,” Gaedt said. Not much remains of his red van, which was filled with props and musical instruments. According to “Bild” information, the damage is said to be around 70,000 euros. After the accident, the A81 was closed for around 3 hours and traffic was backed up for 15 kilometers.

Michael Gaedt has already appeared twice in Stuttgart’s “Tatort”. Both times he played alongside the then chief inspector Bienzle (played by Dietz-Werner Steck). Since 2009, Gaedt has played the car mechanic and car dealer Karl Heinz “Schrotti” Schrothmann in the crime series “SOKO Stuttgart”. He is also a founding member of the comedy group “Die kleine Tierschau”, founded in 1981.
