Gas reserves “at normal prices” are sufficient for Ukrainian consumers today. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the air of the ICTV channel.
“I want to calm everyone down. I think there are many important substantive, and the most important thing is that the government took timely actions, the authorities did. Today there is enough gas for society, enough gas for consumers at very normal prices compared to European prices, ”Zelensky said.
According to him, the gas price could have been 50 hryvnia (about $ 1.9) if the Ukrainian government had not intervened in the situation. “Understand, now we all see that the price is already $ 2 thousand. That is, the price is real on the market, if the authorities did not intervene, the price would be for people at least 50 hryvnia, and for people from NJSC Naftogaz – about 8 hryvnia (about $ 0.3), ”the president explained. He also added that this important package for the year was introduced on time.

Earlier, the head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko, also said that Naftogaz has enough gas to meet all the needs of the country’s population. “We, selling gas at a price of 7.42 hryvnia for the needs of the population, are doing so that the price of gas for the needs of the population will not rise this winter,” he said (quoted by UNIAN). On September 30, the Cabinet of Ministers, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine signed a memorandum according to which tariffs for the population will not increase during the heating season 2021-2022.
