Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised this Sunday in his New Year’s speech to “destroy” the Russian army, which has invaded part of the territory of Ukraine since the end of February 2022.

“Next year, the enemy will suffer the ravages of our domestic production,” Zelensky assured, referring to the fact that in 2024 Ukraine will have one million drones in its arsenal.

This speech took place three days after the Russian army carried out one of the most important air offensives against Ukrainian cities since the start of the war, in which 39 people died.

The Ukrainian army responded by killing 24 people with a bombing raid on the Russian town of Belgorod on Saturday.

Ukraine will have at least “one million” additional drones by 2024, as well as F-16 fighter jets supplied by its Western allies, Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader has urged his Western allies to maintain support amid signs of growing international fatigue with the conflict.

“Ukrainians are stronger than any intrigue, any attempt to reduce global solidarity and undermine the coalition of our allies,” he said.
