The Supreme Court of Ukraine summons the head of state Volodymyr Zelensky as a defendant to the court hearing on the claim of ex-President Petro Poroshenko on February 28, 2022. The claims of Mr. Poroshenko against Mr. Zelensky boil down to the recognition of his statements after the publication of the “Medvedchuk tapes” unlawful. We are talking about the alleged conversation between Mr. Medvedchuk and the former aide to the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov about the supply of electricity to Crimea and the exchange of prisoners in the Donbass.
“The president was summoned as a defendant to the meeting on February 28 on Poroshenko’s administrative lawsuit against the president,” the court told Interfax.
Earlier today, Petro Poroshenko, who is now in Europe, did not come for interrogation on the high treason case at the Bureau of Investigation. As his lawyer Ilya Novikov explained, Mr. Poroshenko will return to the country in the first half of January.
Mr. Poroshenko was suspected of treason on December 20. He left Ukraine after they tried to serve him a summons in the case of coal supplies from Donbass. His party attributed this to a pre-planned diplomatic tour to Turkey and Poland. The person involved in the case is also the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk. He does not admit guilt.
