Cameron Highlands (Tanah Tinggi Cameron), located in the Titiwangsa Mountains, the center of the Malay Peninsula, is a plateau developed during the British colonial period. The weather averages 18 degrees Celsius per year, about 10 degrees lower than other cities in Malaysia. Thanks to its cool climate, tea and various crops that do not grow well in tropical climates were grown, making it a popular vacation spot for the British during the colonial period. now, 100 years later, it has become a global travel destination and an agricultural center where hundreds of species of plants are grown, rather than a resort monopolized by conquerors. The road to Cameron Highlands, which consists of a plateau over 1,500 meters above sea level, is a long, winding mountain road. We arrived at Cameron Highlands after passing Air Terjun Lata Iskandar, which is located on the roadside and is famous as a resting place for travelers.
Half of the fun of traveling here is enjoying the pleasant climate, and the other half is tasting local specialty foods. These are all things that are arduous to experience in other cities in Malaysia. Pasar Pagi Kea Farm’s milk corn (Jagung Susu), praised by travelers as the ‘corn of life’, Steamboat, a hot soup dish that resembles the chimney of a steamship, and the night market (Pasar) that sweetens the cold nights of the plateau. Malam’s Albino Strawberry and honeycomb full of honey. The special journey in Cameron highlands ends the next morning wiht the extraordinary view of the rising sun from a tea plantation 1,700 meters above sea level.
The final destination of this journey filled with the scent of tea leaves is Pulau Perhentian Island on the eastern side of the Malay Peninsula. The island, whose name alone means ‘station’ or ‘resting place’, already excites travelers. We end our trip to Malaysia by enjoying some time off on the island where everyone wants to rest.
