The Armenian communication and telecommunication company Ucom called a meeting of founding shareholders yesterday to discuss and find a solution to the situation created around the company.
The management board of “YUCOM” company issued a statement, which says:
“The last few days have been stressful for Ucom employees, subscribers, partners and the public. We are informed that in this situation the silence of the company’s top body has caused serious anxiety among the employees. However, we acted on the principle of maintaining legal and ethical norms, realizing that silence can have serious consequences.
We did not initiate leakage of information and did not try to burn bridges. we believe that it is not fair to manipulate public opinion or use employee appeals as a threat during the negotiation stage. We make our position public only today, when all legal mechanisms allow us to do so, in accordance with the company’s charter and current laws. We announce that we are aware of the situation and have initiated a settlement process.
First of all, we express our thanks to the employees of Ucom for the journey we have taken together and for creating the history of Armenian Telecom. Hayk made an important contribution to that history, for which we express our gratitude. We hope that he will continue to share his experience on the Ucom Board of Directors, being represented as a co-owner. In addition, we believe that for the benefit of the great Ucom team, all shareholders will find the strength to organize the processes in reasonable, measured steps, without harming any employee.
Referring to the informational myths circulated in the media, let us emphasize that, yes, Ucom is an Armenian company and, of course, it was not sold, exchanged or “extradited” to any country in exchange for any “deal”. The Company has also never considered and does not intend to consider relinquishing any of its employees. As for the shareholders, let us remind you that since the day of its foundation, the largest funds, social capital and opportunities have been invested for the establishment of Ucom, continuing to believe in the vision of the U-team. By the way, during the 12 years, the shareholders never received a dividend.
Looking forward to the development of Ucom, we are sure that the employees will judge the situation soberly, and the new general director together with the team will ensure the continuity of the business, for which we plan to make new investments and attract opportunities.
Ucom is an institutional structure and we are all responsible and accountable to our teammates, our customers and partners, as well as the general public. Due to the situation in the country where communication is vital for people, it is our duty to continue uninterrupted work while maintaining sanity.
Ucom is and will remain an Armenian operator.”
