Chennai: It has come to light that 33 industrial projects in seven districts of Tamil Nadu are awaiting building permits.
In Tamil Nadu, construction projects are given permission through the Department of Urban Development, DTCP, and Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation, CMDA.
Building permits are issued under the categories of low-rise buildings, high-rise apartment buildings, industrial and institutional buildings.
With a view to increasing employment opportunities in Tamil Nadu, a process for speedy approval of industrial projects was developed. For this, all permissions including building permission are issued in a single window system.
In this, the officials of CMDA, DTCP, have been advised to consider the applications received through online mode and take appropriate decision.
As of now, in Kanchipuram, 9; In Tiruvallur, 8; 6 each in Chennai and Coimbatore; at Krishnagiri, 2; 33 industrial projects in seven districts, one each in Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai, are awaiting building permits.
In DTCP, 27 projects and in CMDA, six projects are awaiting approval. Officials said that the Tamil Nadu government has issued instructions to speedily issue building permits for these projects.
