The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Jordan emphasized today, Saturday, the importance of the continued support of the international community to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The ministry said in a statement that “the international agency for Palestinian refugees has an indispensable role, which emphasizes the right of Palestinian refugees to return and compensation according to international law.”

The Ministry expressed that it “regrets the decision of the Kingdom of Sweden to stop funding UNRWA, and hopes that the Swedish government will reconsider its decision, especially in light of Sweden’s historical position to support the financial agency and political.”

The official spokesperson of the Ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al-Qudah, “The importance of the mandate granted to UNRWA in accordance with its UN mandate, and the need for the international community to continue to provide financial and political support to the agency to ensure that it continues to provide vital services for Palestinian refugees. in its five areas of operation,” emphasizing Jordan’s “rejection of any measures aimed at replacing the agency with other United Nations organizations.” “Or prejudice its mandate and powers, or any reduction or diminution of its services provided to refugees.”

He pointed out that “the agency under its UN mandate has the exclusive responsibility of providing these services and its powers and responsibilities are not subject to delegation.”
