Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film, Parasakthi, set to premiere on Saturday, faced a whirlwind of last-minute changes to satisfy the central board of Film Certification (CBFC). The actor detailed the process Friday, explaining the team had to swiftly address approximately 20 revisions to secure a U/A certificate for the period drama.
A Race Against the Clock
The filmmakers initially appealed the suggested changes to a revising committee of the CBFC. After agreeing to the necessary cuts, the board granted its approval. sivakarthikeyan explained the team’s immediate focus was implementation, not negotiation. “The Censor Board has its own set of rules, regulations and criteria. Now, our focus was entirely on how to implement those changes without affecting the film’s core. We didn’t have time to get into why they suggested these changes and so on,” he said.
He described a frantic 24-hour period where digital intermediate (DI) and computer-generated imagery (CGI) personnel were on standby. “The changes came only in the afternoon, after which we had to implement them and load the film on CUBE,” he explained, adding the team operated “like a military camp” to ensure a smooth release. “The more advanced the technology has become, the more tough it has become in certain ways.”
