Boyfriend On Demand: Services, Costs & What to Expect

by Sofia Alvarez

Jisoo, globally recognized as a member of Blackpink, is expanding her creative horizons beyond music. She’s recently taken on leading roles in the television series Snowdrop and Newtopia, as well as the film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. Now, she’s stepping back in front of the camera for a new show, Boyfriend On Demand.

Originally developed for the South Korean broadcaster MBC, the series was acquired by Netflix, a move likely influenced by Jisoo’s considerable popularity. This acquisition means wider accessibility for international fans, unlike some of her previous acting projects.

Before the show’s debut, here’s everything you need to know.

Plot Details

The series centers on Seo Mi-rae, a professional overwhelmed by her demanding career. The official synopsis reads, “Seo Mi-rae is worn out by work. Love? It’s the last thing on her mind. But a virtual dating service sparks feelings — and maybe a real shot at romance.” According to reports, Boyfriend On Demand is a “high-concept drama” following an “overworked webtoon producer” who explores romance through a virtual reality dating program, utilizing a “Monthly Boyfriend” device that unexpectedly alters her love life.

In a 2024 interview with Elle Korea, Jisoo shared her perspective on acting, stating:

“There’s only a difference in the energy shown in each moment, but both require a long commitment and dedication, so the weight of responsibility is the same. However, when I receive a good script, I make an effort to meet with the director and have many conversations. I think it’s important to ensure our direction aligns, as we’ll be working together for a long time.”

Cast Lineup

Jisoo will star alongside Seo In-guk, with supporting roles played by Gong Min-jeung, Kim Ah-young, Park Hae-rin, Ha Young, and Han Ga-eul.

In a 2025 cover story for the Australia/New Zealand edition of Harper’s Bazaar, Jisoo reflected on her growth through acting, saying:

“I was always nervous, but I think I’m getting less nervous as I get to know how it goes. At first, I was hesitant to give my opinion, but now, I think it’s fine if it doesn’t work out and I’ll find a different way. I’ve learned a lot about how to communicate. Since it’s a set where a lot of people work together, we have to pursue the goal together to be energized.”

Premiere Date

Boyfriend On Demand is scheduled to launch on Netflix on March 6.
