Journalist Paula Varela revealed that Emilia Attias was responsible for the incident, explaining how the situation unfolded during the competition. “He goes to look for the cream, which is what you see, he can’t find it. Then they realize – and I think it’s in some photos – the cream that Emilia Attias had was actually Miguel Ángel Rodríguez’s,” Varela stated.
According to Varela, the editing room cut key moments to shield Attias from negative attention. “It’s all edited, because what you saw is missing… When [the judge] tells Emilia ‘the cream, the cream, the cream‘, Emilia says ‘I don’t have it, I can’t get it‘,” she explained.
“Then, she goes to the place, to the refrigerator, takes out Miguel Ángel Rodríguez’s cream and gives it to Emilia so she can finish her plate. Everyone there saw it,” Varela added. The deception didn’t go unnoticed by the other contestants, who reportedly laughed about the incident during the judging process. “Everyone was telling: ‘Hey, Emilia is there but she stole Miguel Ángel’s cream.‘ Everyone had realized it, everyone saw [the judge]… this part is edited,” Varela said.
The situation was even discussed on camera, though ultimately omitted from the broadcast. “And Wanda asks: ‘What happened?’, because you saw that Wanda always asks like a ‘teacher’. And they say: ‘No, because she stole Michelangelo’s cream.’ You didn’t see it either because they edited it,” Varela concluded.
