Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam has called for the formation of an effective advisory committee consisting of related organizations for branding Dhaka in the outside world.

He made this call at the opening ceremony of the three-day international tourism fair titled ‘Biman-Dhaka Travel Mart 2024’ at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Thursday (February 8) evening.

DNCC Mayor said, the current era is the era of branding. We can brand Bangladesh by highlighting the history of our language movement and liberation war in the outside world. Bangladesh is the only country in the world that has made a movement for mother tongue. To pay tribute to the memory of Bhasha Shaheed we have to tell everyone that we have National Shaheed Minar. The people of the world should be informed about the places where the memories of the liberation war are intertwined. I believe that if this history can be told correctly, foreigners will come to visit and know about Bangladesh.

The mayor also said that Cox’s Bazar beach is the longest beach in the world. It should be presented to the people of the world. Last year at Cox’s Bazar beach we organized International Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualifiers from Volleyball Federation. The observation team of the International Volleyball Federation said that the sand type, weather and overall environment of Cox’s Bazar beach is very suitable for playing volleyball. They have announced to organize more international tournaments in Cox’s Bazar in future. In this way, Bangladesh should be highlighted on various international platforms.

Meanwhile, the organizers said that the title sponsor of the fair, organized by the travel and tourism publication Bangladesh Monitor, is the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Bangladesh Tourism Board and leading Global Distribution System (GDS) organization are participating as partners of Sabre Fair.

They said that more than 80 institutions and organizations of the country and abroad are presenting their products and services in hundreds of stalls and pavilions. The participants include airlines, hotels, resorts, travel agents, tour operators, training institutes, medical tourism agencies and various organizations related to travel and tourism. During the fair, participating companies are offering special discounts on their products and services to visitors. Discounts include air tickets, hotel and resort accommodation, travel packages.

The tourism fair will run daily from 10 am to 8 pm and the entry fee for visitors has been kept at Rs 50 per person. A grand raffle draw on entry tickets will be held on the concluding day of the fair in the presence of visitors. The raffle prizes will include return tickets for travel to Jeddah, Madina, Maldives, Dubai, Bangkok, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet and Chittagong: accommodation in various star hotels and resorts in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Bandarban and Kuakata, dinner coupons for two. .

Bangladesh Monitor launched the country’s first international tourism fair ‘Dhaka Travel Mart’ in 2002. Later the fair is being held every year. This fair is the 19th edition of Dhaka Travel Mart.
