A government agreement to implement projects for waste recycling and renewable energy production in two sites in Baghdad

Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Electricity announced an agreement to implement projects to recycle waste and produce renewable energy in two sites in Baghdad, while noting that the volume of energy produced depends on the amount recycled.

Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa told the (INA): “The Ministry of Electricity worked in coordination with the Baghdad Municipality and the National Investment Authority to establish renewable energy projects through waste recycling, where cooperation resulted in the selection of two sites, one in the (Abu Ghraib) area and the other in (Al-Nahrawan) to give them as investment opportunities to establish power plants through waste recycling.”
He added, “There are technical details related to the contracts for these opportunities that are within the jurisdiction of the Baghdad Municipality and the Investment Authority related to covering the areas and the volume of waste. The Ministry of Electricity will be concerned with choosing the appropriate location and technical specifications and connecting them to the electrical network that the regions benefit from, depending on the location of installing those stations.”
He added, “The amount of energy produced is determined by the Municipality of Baghdad through the recycling of waste given to the company operating in Iraq,” explaining, “The first site will be granted as an investment opportunity in the coming days through the Investment Authority. We held several meetings with the Municipality of Baghdad and the issue resulted in granting the opportunity to one of the… companies.
