A Pau high school student trapped Parcoursup, the platform that collects and manages the assignment wishes of aspirants to higher education: instead of her cover letter, she submitted a cooking recipe… and was admitted to the University of Bordeaux.
The TikTok video has been viewed more than 2.2 million times and caused a stir, in the middle of the baccalaureate period and the results of the Parcoursup assignments. By selecting the establishments in which she would like to study, Lucièle Casteigbou, a Terminale student at the Saint-John Perse high school in Pau, realizes that she has checked the Bordeaux university by mistake. She decides to take the opportunity to conduct a little experiment and finally find out if the cover letters, on which the final year students often spend many hours on the floor, are really read. Instead of these few lines supposed to affirm their fierce desire to flourish intellectually within a particular establishment, the young woman decides to send a pastry recipe. In this case, the Russian cake with praline cream.
Surprise ! In June, the student (who also has a good academic record) receives an answer: she is on the waiting list. A few days pass, then she discovers that thanks to a few withdrawals, she is admitted to the University of Bordeaux.

Finally, she opted for the University of Bayonne, her first choice, where she wanted to start studying law. Asked by BFM TVthe young woman explains: It shows that we don’t read the letters. We spend a lot of time doing things that are useless. I don’t think it’s the faculties’ fault, it’s Parcoursup’s fault, because the universities can’t handle so many requests. It’s the Parcoursup system that has a problem. »
