BNP Vice Chairman Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, Awami League does not want to give credit to those who fought in the war of liberation. The liberation war started with the joint initiative of Bengali workers, soldiers and students. The current ruling party is not willing to accept this simple fact.

He said these things at a press conference at the Gulshan BNP Chairperson’s political office on Thursday (March 21). Earlier, the leaders of the party held a meeting of the celebration committee formed by BNP on the occasion of Independence Day. A 3-day program was announced there.

Commenting that Bangladesh has gradually turned into a police state, Hafiz said, “The tendency to continue the common man’s war as a political war hurts us.” There is no democracy in the country, no freedom of assembly, not even freedom of press.

Pointing out that our neighboring states and extraterrestrial superpowers want to subjugate us today, he said, a political party is responsible for the cultural aggression we are witnessing.

This freedom fighter mentioned that there are many differences between the student society of 1971 and the student society of today.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that Khaleda Zia was a real brave freedom fighter and she inspired her husband to fight. He forbade the soldiers of the East Bengal Regiment to lay down their arms despite orders from Pakistan to lay down their arms. He inspired the soldiers to fight.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anyi and others were present at this time.
