Five soldiers have dead in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, after your vehicle will drive over a mine in the area near the border with Niger. As reported by ‘Ripples Nigeria’, the soldiers were patrolling in the town of Laayi, near the border city of Damasak, when they drove a mine that, according to initial investigations, could have been placed by the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA). The explosion that killed the five soldiers on the patrol took place on Monday, although the news was released on Wednesday by the Nigerian authorities.

It is suspected that the jihadists were responsible because the previous day several attacks were attributed to them in the nearby town, from which, according to the aforementioned newspaper, they had fled by placing several mines during their withdrawal.

Northeast Nigeria is the scene of frequent Boko Haram attacks and its spin-off, the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA).
