How we meet again… In 1798, at the end of the century of smallpox, an English country doctor, Edward Jenner, discovered that by inoculating a child with “vaccinia”, a mild form of the disease, he immunized him against the latter. “Vaccination” was born, and the mistrust it also inspires. More than two hundred years later, while the first has never been able to extinguish the second, we find the same virus, vaccinia, as the basis of a new kind of serum, once again targeting the evil of the century: cancer.
