The Vuelta a España 2024 (August 17 to September 8) was presented and, as expected, it will be another edition full of toughness. On the menu, up to nine high finishes stand out, two individual time trials and a few transition days.

The event will start outside Spain for the fifth time in its history. It will be in Lisbon, and Portugal will have the caravan in its territory for up to three days. The first day there will be a 12 km individual time trial, mostly flat.

Then, for the fourth part, the runners will encounter a tough mountain day in Spain in which four climbs await, including the high finish of Pico Villuercas (14.5 km at 6.2%), where Bardet was crowned two years ago.

Next, the platoon will visit the south of the host country, highlighting mountain days on the way to Cazorla and Granada. Precisely in that stage, the ninth, the protagonists will have to overcome the Alto de Hazallanas twice (7.2 km at 9.8%), and then have the first day of rest.

The second week will have highlights in sections 12, 13 and 15. In the latter we will reach the fearsome Cuitu Negru, with slopes above 20%, those that Guillén likes so much. And it will be precisely after that day that the second day of rest will arrive.

The final week will start with a trap, because stage 16 will end in the Covadonga Lakes. Subsequently, a journey along the Cantabrian coast towards Santander, and finally Madrid. In the process, they will still find mountains, with the high arrivals of Moncavilloy Picón Blanco.

The epilogue will be in the capital, but with a flat individual time trial of 22 kilometers. Once again, a complete route but inclined towards climbers.
