“Honestly, Mongolia were not a football team. They may have just started playing or just got together. They have a lot of difficulties. It was a strange team.”
Former football player of the Azerbaijani national team Afran Ismailov told İdman.biz.
The veteran footballer commented on the match in which Azerbaijan defeated Mongolia with a score of 1:0. He emphasized that the opponent’s defense with all its might created great difficulties for our team:
“We have quality players. We should have played comfortably, scored goals and won big. If we hadn’t scored at the end it would have been a shame. If you look at it from that point of view, it’s not that much of a success “We beat them with great difficulty. It is difficult to play against such opponents. It is also difficult to prepare for a friendly match. The players do not give 100 percent. This leads to games like this.”
Ismailov appreciated the work of Arif Asadov, who led the team to the game:
“I am also a supporter of the local coach. If he is given a chance, why not? We have already attracted enough foreigners, and none of them have produced much results. I will be happy with Arif Asadov as head coach, not a foreigner. Regardless of the game , the result will remain in history.”
According to him, all our players performed at the same level:

So we had to play a little smarter. In a one-on-one fight we had to beat the opponent and shoot on goal or give a good pass. We had difficulties with this. We scored towards the end and won. We have to forget this match. We have to play against a more serious opponent – Bulgaria. They are tough for us. The Bulgarians used to play better. But at the moment we are in better shape than them. I think we will play them comfortably and win.”
