The Russian army suffers catastrophic losses in artillery, losing several hundred “barrels” every month.
Such high casualty rates after UAF strikes forced Russia to switch to even more costly and dangerous tactics of using helicopters, with which the Russians are trying to compensate for the heavy losses of artillery.

However, this tactic of the Russians soon runs the risk of turning into serious problems for Moscow.

Military expert Alexander Kovalenko writes about this in his Telegram channel.

“Over the past 2 months, the shortage of artillery (from the Russian Federation) has taken on critical proportions. In May, the occupiers lost a record number of artillery – 553 barrels. And as of June 20, 414 guns have already been destroyed. The Russian command does not have time to compensate for the loss of artillery even by reactivating the old Soviet howitzers. What to do? Classic. We see how the ROV began to drive more attack helicopters to the South and use them as artillery. This, in turn, forces Russian helicopters to operate as close as possible to the zone of potential risks of being shot down by air defense systems or getting into the zone of a mobile group with MANPADS,” he writes.

As a result, the Russians began to rapidly lose their helicopters. “As of June 20, 8 Russian attack helicopters have already been destroyed. The cost of the Ka-52 attack helicopter, depending on the modification, varies from 16 to 20 million dollars. That is, according to the most conservative estimates, in June the ROV helicopter fleet was lost by $128 million. The cost of the modern self-propelled guns 2S19 Msta-S is $1.6 million, or 80 in comparison with the Ka-52. Self-propelled guns 2S3 “Acacia”, in the days of the USSR, cost 31 thousand rubles, at a dollar exchange rate of 0.86 kopecks.

Considering inflation, conditionally, today it is possible to estimate its cost, in good condition, at an average of $120,000, which, with simple calculations, indicates 1,066 destroyed 2C3s compared to 8 Ka-52s, ”the expert notes.

Moreover, after the loss of the fleet of the most modern helicopters, Russia will be forced to switch to simpler and weaker modifications such as the Mi-24 or Mi-8, which are much less powerful and pose less of a threat to the Armed Forces.

“Demilitarization,” Kovalenko sneers at the process.
