A contract has been awarded to a private company to convert the parking lot into a park. They have cultivated the land and started the work of setting up a park on it.

For this purpose, grasses are grown in some foreign states including Bengaluru, loaded in trucks, arranged in rows and converted into parks. Greening of all this land; Airport officials said that it will be converted into a children’s play area and refreshment centers.

Allotment of land

Eight airports across the country were identified by the Airports Authority of India in February for all types of operations, including aircraft maintenance and repair.

According to this, 30 acres of land was given to Chennai Airport last June for maintenance and repair work called MRO. Out of this, 3,000 sq m of land has been allotted on lease basis to a Delhi-based private company for repair and maintenance work.

For this, the private company has to pay Rs 84.30 lakh per year to the airport management, airport officials said.
