“Perfidious and hypocritical” – Uwe Tellkamp supports Rammstein
Rammstein singer Till Lindemann gets support from writer Uwe Tellkamp. This criticizes that Lindemann’s publishing house separated from him. Art is there to “go too far”.
Dhe writer and bestselling author Uwe Tellkamp defended Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann and criticized his ejection from the publishing house “Kiwi”. The Cologne publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch announced at the beginning of June that it was ending its collaboration with Lindemann. He had published Lindemann’s violent sex poems. This is now criticized by Tellkamp, who himself came under public criticism a few years ago for statements on migration policy. As a result, his publishing house “Suhrkamp” had distanced itself from him.
“I like Till Lindemann’s poetry. I don’t understand how his publisher distances himself from him without real proof, throws him out. I find that perfidious and hypocritical,” said Tellkamp in the YouTube format “Schuler! ask what is”.
A distinction must be made between criminal offense and consensual. So far he has heard no evidence that there have been criminal acts. One could assume Rammstein that the band was “the AfD of feeling,” said Tellkamp. The band is not afraid of any taboos, is “mentally free”, goes where it hurts. Art is there to “go too far”.
Several women had raised allegations against Lindemann, some of them anonymously. They described situations that they sometimes found frightening. Young women were selected during concerts and asked if they wanted to come to the after show party. According to descriptions by some women, there were also sexual acts.
Lindemann had rejected allegations against him. He has his interests represented by a lawyer. “Serious allegations against our client were made by various women on social networks, especially on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube,” it said in a statement. “For example, it has been repeatedly claimed that women at Rammstein concerts were drugged with knockout drops or alcohol to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. Without exception, these allegations are untrue.”
WELT AM SONNTAG reported on the allegations against the band at the beginning of June and was able to attend the five-hour interrogation of Shelby Lynn, who had filed a complaint against Lindemann.
