Train traffic will be « almost normal » across the entire SNCF network on Tuesday September 26, the day of national call for strike, according to the railway company, but traffic “certain lines”like the RER C, will be disrupted.

SNCF invites travelers “to check the movement of trains and connections on the usual information channels”.

Passengers of “some TGV Inoui, Ouigo or (trains) Intercity » affected by disruptions “have already been notified individually, in order to benefit from a postponement or reimbursement free of charge”, SNCF Voyageurs said on Monday.

Locally, traffic on certain lines will be disrupted on Tuesday by the strike. In Île-de-France, train traffic will be “very seriously disturbed” on RER line C, with only one train in three planned.

Traffic will be ” disturbed “ on the RER D, with two trains out of three ” on average “, and on line N (3 trains out of 4). He will be “slightly disturbed” on the RER E (4 trains out of 5).

“Social scuttling”

The CGT-cheminots, SUD-rail and CFDT-cheminots unions called for a strike on Tuesday to denounce what they describe as “social sabotage”in particular the transfer of employees to subsidiaries as part of the opening to competition.

They also protest against “the dismantling of Fret SNCF” in the “discontinuity plane” prepared by the government for the European Commission, with “the elimination of 500 positions out of 5,000 railway workers” of this company of the SNCF group or even the“stoppage of operation of all combined trains transferred to the private sector”.

In January, the European Commission opened an investigation into the financial support provided by the French state to Fret SNCF from 2007 to 2019, in particular the cancellation of its debt of 5.3 billion euros. Brussels could declare this aid illegal, which would automatically cause the bankruptcy of Fret SNCF, unable to repay it.

The government proposed to Brussels a “discontinuity scenario” consisting of liquidating Fret SNCF and replacing it with a new structure. It would abandon part of its activity to competitors, which currently represents 30% of traffic and 20% of Fret SNCF’s turnover, and employs 10% of its railway workers.
