Alpes-de-Haute-Provence: one dead and three injured in a plane crash

It was during the landing that the tragedy occurred. A passenger plane crashed on Wednesday near the Barcelonnette-Saint-Pons aerodrome in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The accident left one dead and three seriously injured, according to firefighters and the prosecution, confirming initial information from La Provence.

“The plane crashed in Saint-Pons during its landing phase,” said the public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains, Rémy Avon. There were four people on board the aircraft: one of the passengers died and the other three were “seriously injured”, the plane having caught fire after the crash. According to the Dauphiné released, the four victims are aged between 31 and 54 years old.

The circumstances of the accident are still unknown and “rescue operations are in progress”, added the magistrate. Three helicopters were deployed to the scene according to firefighters. The investigation was entrusted to the air transport gendarmerie brigade at Marseille-Provence airport.
