Amazon, boom in online sales: record profits and revenues of 108 billion

Amazon, the tech and e-commerce coloso led by Jeffrey Bezos, closes the first quarter of 2021 with record numbers and exceeding analysts’ expectations. Thanks to the greater trend in online shopping, following the pandemic, and the consequent boom in sales, profits tripled, revenues rose to 108.5 billion, up 44% compared to the same period of the previous year. In detail, the quarterly profit recorded 8.1 billion compared to 2.5 billion in the first three months of the same period in 2020. In after hours trading, after the publication of quarterly data, the shares of the technology giant increased by more than 5%.
